Has anyone been able to compare a web page report to PDF, Word and Excel where the data should all be the same?
Or have I reached the extent of TestComplete?
In the attachment, on the left, is the web page's contents with a student's scoring results.
I need to verify that the PDF, Word and Excel data matches this web page.
As I begin to delve into this, if someone says "Oh yes I do it all the time" with a little hint, that would be great.
If someone says "Well no, for that you need..." that would be a great piece of advice.
Thanks much for your time.
Even though I'm evaluating TC at the moment, I *think* your question is not directly related to TC. Is there a way to export that page to a PDF? How about to Word? Excel? If so, I'd do a web page checkpoint for the web page. Then, I'd export to the 3 formats and then compare those files against a baseline. Simple.
I've used the "code way", and a library of VBA functions to verify the contents of Word and Excel documents.
As for PDFs, I save them as a plain text file and verify the contents using code. I haven't yet gotten around to evaluating the Adobe Acrobat document format API to see if there's a more elegant solution to verifying the content of PDFs.
