Generally speaking, most automation tools are effectively the same. They all have means of interacting with your application under test, either through native properties or through the GUI. They all have some sort of automation code. They all have library objects of standard functions.
However, if you take a look at some of the more recent threads, because they are different tools, TC and QTP have different ways of going about the same thing.
Your question could easily be asked "Is it easy to work with Embarcadero Delphi XE if you know VisualStudio 2010?" The answer is basically the same. They are two tools that may be able to achieve roughly the same thing but the means by which they go about doing so are different.
