We are working on a online learning resource project. when we click on a topic user is navigated to a page where topic tutor is dispalyed
request when we click on the topic is
"GET /student/school1/2011/class/topics/ <font color="green">01a </font>/index.html HTTP/1.1"
01a is topic identifier. when we click on different topic, the 01a in the url is replaced with 01b, 02a and so on.
since topic identifier is not a request variable, will i be able to change this parameter during script execution
Re: changing request during load testing execution
Loadtesting is designed to test performance of a website under certain levels of load. Is there a particular reason why you need to have different topics selected during such performance testing? It sounds like you're trying to do functional testing rather than load testing.
As for load testing multiple topics, if that is a requirement, you will probably need to record multiple tasks, one for each topic you want to include in the load you'll be sending to your server and then make sure that you have virtual users set up to execute those loads.
If, however, there is no discernable "load" difference between having all users select the same topic or having users select different topics, you might be able to get away with just doing a single topic as your task and running that as your load.
