Handling dynamic ID\'s in Test Complete

Hi,

We are using EXT JS as front end framework. Now our application assigns ID's to link on run time, so after recording when i play the test it does not recognize the link as its ID is changed.

Can anyone help me how to deal with this problem.

Thanks in Advance!

Hi Hanan,

You can use regular expression or wild card(?,*) to handle an dynamic ID's.

Thanks,
Vivek

Re: Handling dynamic ID\'s in Test Complete

What Vivek is saying - if you have a Object("ID238923"), you could try replacing it with Object("*") and TestComplete will ignore the hard coded number and replace it with * (meaning, anything).

It depends where your ID is stored if you can simply use a wildcard. You might need to use a findchild method to search for the specific object you're accessing. Post the string you're trying to work with - it would be much easier to give a solution
