Object Browser doesn\'t see AUT unless UAC is off

I was about to post a question asking why the Object Browser in Test Complete (v7.52.678.7) couldn't 'see' my AUT and therefore made automating it impossible. But then I decided to turn off Windows UAC. After a reboot I tried again and this time my AUT did indeed appear in the Object Browser. So problem is solved.

So my question, for anybody that cares, is why did this happen? Why does UAC effectively prevent some applications from being seen, and therefore automated, by TC?

My enviroment is Win7 Enterprise 32bit. My AUT is .NET executable.

Are you running TestComplete as an administrator? Otherwise I wouldn't necessarily expect it to have the priveleges to see the controls present in other applications. Not really sure if this is expected behavior, though.

    Hi,

This behavior is expected. TC should be running with administrator permissions due to the Windows 7 security policy.
