Is descriptive programming for object recognition possible in TestComplete as in the case of QTP?
Can we create the object Aliases at runtime from an excel sheet which has details of each object(parent, objectname, objectproperty). Its like I am creating my object repository when I run my projectsuite so that I can use these objects during script execution.
I haven't come across such feature in TestComplete6 and TestComplete7 has the feature "Create Objects Automatically" under the NameMapping settings but I couldn't figure out a way using an excel sheet. Is it possible in the latest version of TestComplete or any plans for this feature in future versions?
Re: Descriptive Programming for Object Recognition
When the "Map object names automatically" option is enabled, TestComplete uses the default recognition criteria to map your application's objects. If you need to use custom criteria specified in an Excel file, you can create a custom script which will read the data from the Excel file and use it to build the mapped objects tree. You can use the AddNamedChild method to do this (see the "AddNamedChild Method" help topic for more information). To learn how to work with Excel files from TestComplete, please see the "Using DDT Drivers" help topic.
