Does anyone know if it's possible to launch an external file comparison tool directly from the Test Log? This is possible in SilkTest in the .res result files. I'm trying to replicate the functionality in TestComplete. The closest thing I found was using Log.link, but I can't seem to actually launch an external utility that way.
An example of what I'd like to do is in event of test failure have a link in the log that launches something like this so the comparison can be launched in the external utility:
Re: Open external file comparison tool from test log
Yes, it is possible. You can save the needed command line to a .cmd file, which can be created either manually or from your script, and post a link to the .cmd file in TestComplete. When you click the link, the needed command line will be executed.
BTW, please see the "Working With Files From Scripts" help topic to learn how to create text files in TestComplete (you can use the approach to create a .cmd file automatically).
