Find not working in IE8 using TC7

    Hi,

I'm testing out TC7 with IE8 and I can't get Find to work anymore. My code
was working fine in TC6 and IE7. I'm trying to find text in a browser page,
the code looks something like this

    Sys.Process('iexplore').Page('http://www.google.com/*').Find('innerHTML','Advanced
    Search')

I've tried a ton of variations, but I can't get this to work. Does anyone
have Find working in IE8 with TC7, and if so can you provide an example?
An example on a public page like google would be great so I can try it myself,
or maybe something has just changed in TC7 that I don't know about.

    thanks,
    Adam

Re: Find not working in IE8 using TC7

I'm pretty ticked at what it looks like the problem is.

    <u>TestComplete 6</u>
    testObj.Find(PropNames, PropValues, Depth)
    Parameters
    testObj A tested object
    PropNames [in] Required Variant
    PropValues [in] Required Variant
    <font color="red">Depth [in] Optional Integer Default value: 1 </font>
    Result A tested object

    <u>TestComplete 7</u>
    testObj.Find(PropNames, PropValues, Depth, Refresh)
    Parameters
    testObj A tested object
    PropNames [in] Required Variant
    PropValues [in] Required Variant
    <font color="red">Depth [in] Optional Integer Default value: 0 </font>
Refresh [in] Optional Boolean Default value: True
    Result A tested object

    Depth

A zero-based integer number that specifies the level of objects where Find will search for the desired object. If Depth is 0, the method will search in testObj and its child objects. If Depth is 1, Find will search in testObj and its child and grandchild objects

Seems like this could be a bug, why change the default Depth value in TC7. This wasted a bunch of my time figuring out the problem, and now I have to go back and update all my calls.

    Hi Adam,

I have registered the problem in our bug-tracking DB. We'll fix it.

Thanks, I overacted a bit. I've been struggling to get my existing scripts to work in TC7, though most of the problems seem to be dealing with IE8.
