Testing different applications with same script
This is what I'm trying to accomplish:
I have a 32 bit and 64 version of the same application, and I want to use the same scripts for both versions of the application (the exe's are in different locations, but have the same name). That way I only have to manage 1 set of scripts rather than 2.
What I've done so far:
I have created 2 projects (32 bit, 64 bit) inside of 1 project suite. I did not clone the projects, but rather added existing scripts to the 64 bit project, and in the TestedApps, added the 64 bit executable with the same name as the one in the 32 bit project (but a different path).
When I run all the scripts individually, this set up seems to work fine. But when I run an entire project (or even running a single Test Item from the Project window by using "Run Focused Item"), or the entire suite at once, it seems that they both use the exe of the 1st project, rather than the separate path actually specified in the TestedApps of the 2nd project.
Is there a better way to accomplish my goal, and/or am I doing something wrong? I can't figure out why they would work when running the scripts manually as opposed to running them from the actual Project.
Thanks for any information - Jon
Re: Testing different applications with same script
I suppose this was a premature post, but maybe it can help somebody else.
The problem was that I copied/pasted the test items from one project to the other. When I went into each test item and reset the "Element to be run" they worked fine.
Hope this may help somebody in the future who likes to take shortcuts and, like me, takes one too many .
