I have a testcase which calls for looking for a certain text like Installation Pass from the PDF file. Is it possible to do it via TestComplete? I have tried the checkpoints, record and playback and it does not seem like the right way. Iím out of ideas.. Can you help?
Re: How do I get a strip of text from a PDF document.
You cannot read the contents of a PDF file with TestComplete without any external tools as PDF is a closed format. However, there are several ways to read data from a PDF file opened in Adobe Acrobat Reader in TestComplete. For example, you can use the MSAA plug-in to get some text or use the OCR plug-in. Please visit our newsgroups and the SQAforums portal for more information.
Please refer to the "Testing With Microsoft Active Accessibility" help topic to learn how to use the MSAA plug-in. To learn how to use the OCR plug-in, see the "Optical Character Recognition - Overview" help topic.
