I need to test a web request (third party) and response The test case will be
Gather user information, send a request to a third party web service, store the response in a data base. Can anyone give me information on how to set this up, and is SoapUI the tool to use?
yes you can use soap UI for this, this would involve posting the request and then validating the database .
All you need to do is feed the WSDL to SoapUI, it will automatically set an interface and the operations in it then you will have to proceed on creating a testsuite with test cases and test steps under them
You can definitely store part of the response in a database by creating properties for the response and using the JDBC teststep to send the info to the DB. See below links for further information.
