Tool for recording user actions <> record/playback
I am looking for a tool that can record user actions, such as where they clicked on a screen, current screen state recording, etc., then I'd like to play the recording back to see what actions the user has taken during a given test to see what state the app was in, etc.
I am not looking for a capture/playback record/playback tool, as those tools would require the application to be there to run playback against.
The playback should be similar to a movie playback, not requiring the application.
Any ideas for tools with the described features?

Could you VNC to the box from a windows box? You could use snagit that way if so. Have you check out ksnapshot? I did a search for "snagit linux" and saw that one. Doesn't look like it does movies though. Don't see any others though. And have you searched freshmeat.net and sourceforge.net since they are huge linux places.

Speaking about VNC you can also take advantage of the vnc2swf. You may set it up as an additional VNC client and record your interaction with a VNC server into a SWF file (Flash animation). I created a demo about how to use vnc2swf some time ago if you are interested.
