Here's a question about that, though - and this is speaking from relative ignorance about these tools - knowing that, for example, QTP is building vbscript code underneath the script, would there be any value in pasting that script into another launchable app?
A customer buys your software, then they expects you to validate it on every microsoft patch that comes out. If we were able to compile our suite into an EXE and sell it to the customer, then they could validate their enviroment. This would also enable us to update the tests and sell updates.
That sounds like a backwards relationship. When you sell the software, you certify it to run at a certain patch level. If the customer wants to install further patches, they are altering their environment, and you no longer certify the software. Simple.
Sounds like the customer is blackmailing you into doing QA they should be doing themselves.
