Tools simulate stub in C/S frame
Our sofeware comprises two modules, one is client, the other is server.
We want to carry out automation test now, the basic idea is making a stub to simulate the behavior of the server module.
My question is, is there any tools could simulate the behavior of a server, which listen on a port, and when a request coming, receives the request and returns a data defined in advance. And the interface between the two modules also could be defined.
Re: Tools simulate stub in C/S frame
1. Why do you need a stub, can't you use the real server? Is the server not developed yet? Or do you want an altered test variant with some pre-loaded test data?
2. Which programming language are we talking about here? Writing a socket program to listen on a port for some incoming request and responding with a pre-defined format is a 10 minute job (well actually it is a 15 minute job if you want to spawn a new thread for each incoming request)?
Download the source code of echo server example for your programming language, change the strings and you are ready to go.
Can you continue this thread with more information?
