I'm looking to automate a large number of transactions in our web app after every release, for regression testing. Is there an automated tool out there that can help. I've tried QTP but was wondering if there are any other non-gui testing tools...ones where I don't have to do capture playback. Someone told me that Mercury has a tool called Systinet....has anyone used that before? Or does anyone know of similar tools? Maybe QTP works fine....all comments/suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
Since you have already have one of the best tools on the market for web apps, I would suggest to learn VBS and try to steer away from the Capture/Replay a bit. I believe You will find that the power and flexibility of QTP is very good.
Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.

I actually don't have QTP at the moment, but have used it previously. I do know VBS, so that's not the issue....it's just that I wonder if there is a better, faster, more effective way to do regression testing for an entire release not just one or two projects. I aware that QTP is good....other other, different options.
I'm using eTester from Empirix for web application regression. I use capture/replay primarily but additionally use VBA scripting to check each page for custom HTML strings, error or debug code etc. This is a product which fits our regression needs quite well as QA migrates from Test to Stage to Production.
