Tool for Functional Testing of EJBs & Web Services
We have been using "Bean-Test" testing tool (product of Empirix) to do functional testing of EJBs .
Our requirement presently is to do the functional testing of EJBs and Web Services running on Weblogic 8.1 .
So we are in need of a testing tool which meets our requirements (i.e. functional testing of both EJBs & Web Services).
Kindly suggest the appropriate tool.
Re: Tool for Functional Testing of EJBs & Web Services
I had a similar problem when testing a J2EE application on Weblogic 6.0 (which we upgraded to 7.0 before I left - HUGE task), which was also a Middleware application. At the time, there were no tools in the market for functional testing of an application which has no front end and no back end. Functional testing of this product was done prior to the integration with the front ends & back ends. Due to the lack of products in the market for this, we ended up having to build our own tool using XML. One of developers spent considerable time developing this tool, in which it provided validation points etc. We also had the added problem that our application was accessed using both MQ & Http, therefore adding more complexity to it.
If your application is a back end server application, then there are a few tools that may be able to assist you. Have a look at the following site: http://www.pushtotest.com/ for some open source tools. Stickyminds ( http://www.stickyminds.com ) is also a great reference, there are quite a few interesting documents & tools on this site that might help you.
