I work for a new and upcoming company. We have a vision and idea of how we want to test, but not sure which is the best testing tool to purchase. (Mercury Products, Segue Software, Rational SQA, Automated QA). I have been trying to find the pros and cons for each. Looking for advice!
Background: We have mainframe and web based applications. Would like to automate test scripts and bug track. (wares: Window XP, Powerbuilder, ecommerce, some Unix, POS systems)
My first piece of advice is to read the forum rules. Particularly the rules about cross-posting (6 times).
The answer to your question is the same advice you would find on any number of posts on this subject, if you had but done a search.
1. Determine your requirements.
2. Determine the vendors who meet the requirements. (I notice that you left off Compuware out of the big 4. Actually, the big 2 after Mercury)
3. Invite the players who meet your requirements for a proof of concept.
4. Make your decision.
No one here can tell you which tool is best for you, because only you know your requirements.
