Is there any tool to test "notification emails" send by an application to its users.
For example: When we subscribe any newsletter from any website, the website will send notification mail to our email. How to test these kind of emails.
If there is no tool, anybody tried to automate to test notification emails for your application?
Waiting for your reply.
Thanks in advance.
Have a look at http://www.inboxrules.com .
Maybe they offer a tool which can help you...
Back in the day (around 1998), I used SilkTest to automate Outlook Express to receive emails and grab the expected attachments.
While my testing really concentrated on the attachments, I am quite sure you can get the email text and verify whatever you need.

I used to configure Eudora Pro with multiple user accounts and automate checking each one.
I used QTP to automate the similar scenario which you mentioned. Even my project involves testing the notification mails and especially the attachments included in the mail.
I check the Inboxes of our Exchange Test Server via Webdav and HTTPRequest. I wrote a function for Rational Robot
