I am new to this list. I have a requirement to perform integration testing for CORBA event channel. This is going to be automated testing with testcases written in C++ to test CORBA event channel. I am badly looking for some pointers/documents/websites focused on CORBA event channel testing information/ideas. I will appreciate any input on this.
We don't have any test tools or product at our disposal. This is going to be test case design and development in C++ from scratch.
We may have to think in that direction in future, but for this release it is going to be developed in house. The CORBA event channel is responsobile for providing the infrastrucutre for various ditributed(physical/logical) components within the product to communicate with each other. These components will play consumer and supplier role for event channel provided by CORBA. It is going to be based on CORBA(OMG) event service. We are going to test event channel, so we may have to simulate the supplier and consumer components(stubbing the code and creating test classes wrapping the entry and exit components) in our test and then test middle event channel and various interfaces offered by it. The outcome will need to be checked too.(checking supplier for testing xconsumer interaction, checking consumer for suplier interaction)
What have you found in searching about this forum and/or the web regarding your topic?
Do you have a home-brew test harness, a commercial unit/integration test product, or nothing at all?
What does the unit test consist of?
What do your technical specifications say the event channel is supposed to do? Test for it and test against it (pro- and anti-).
You're probably talking about stubbing the code and creating test classes wrapping the entry and exit components. The wrapper code would contain the call permutations that you want to test and some way to interpret/assess the outcomes.
