Could anyone suggest an automated test tool for testing windows applications (not web testing). More specifically to test windows mail clients like Outlook and Outlook Express. I would guess Silktest or Winrunner will work. Would be nice to know of some less expensive automated tools.
I am currently working with TestComplete and like it quite a bit. Depending on what language the taget application is written in, TestComplete can be called from within the application to initiate testing. You can edit the scripts generated during the QA process, save the scripts and combined them to create your Regression Test Set. It is a good package for the budget challenged.
I have used some test tools but always ran into problem in terms of using the custom addins in Outlook so wrote my own app to read the mails in the folders to get the contents. I consider the best app would be VB.

Anyone have any ideas?
