I did an evaluation of automated testing tools that would do unit and GUI testing with .Net applications and was unaware that Mercury had any tools that could do this, therefore it wasn't in my evaluation. Does anyone out there have an opinion of whether or not any Mercury testing tool outperforms TestComplete for unit and/or Gui/functional automated testing? If so I would appreciate the information! Thanks.
Mercury has a great reputation for customer support? I got some clients you should talk to!
I have been a Mercury consultant for many years. Our own internal development shops have recently implemented TestComplete. There were 4 primary justifications for the choice.
1. Cost. Period.
2. We develop in Delphi, and QTP has a real hard time with that. TestComplete is GREAT in a Delphi environment.
3. Unit Testing. Our goal is to be fully automated unit/regression test using the same test technology. I wish we only had the bandwidth to match the tools capabilities...we might actually accomplish that goal someday.
4. Support. Mercury has good support all kidding aside. But I don't see the entire tech staff of Mercury frequenting this forum, participating in these discussions, and in the emails that I have exchanged with both companies, the general level of knowledge and ability to actually resolve the problem rather than try to placate or obfuscate has been far superior. I know all about the size differences, and all of that...but what I care about at any given moment is getting my problem solved so I can move forward.
It was a really easy choice in the end. Good Luck.
