I have 8 years of manual testing. After a layoff, it seems almost impossible to get a job in QA unless you have automated testing experience. Can anyone please tell me if there is automated testing courses or web sites where I can learn about it?
Thanks for all responses
You may also want to explore several free tools, such as AutoIt and Phantom, that you can obtain from ZDNet. While the user interface is not quite what you expect from a commercial tool, you have the opportunity to become hands-on familiar with what is involved. AutoIt, for example, has script capabilities akin to VBScript, similar to QTP8. I suggest that you can then list these automated tools, and while not as strong as being able to list the top tools on your resume you emphasize a certain amount of test automation experience.
If its jus learning then just get a demo version of any of the product and learn it yourself cos u know what a tool needs to do since you have 8 yrs exp. All the tools which i have evaluated have good help files associated with them or else you could ask some group where there are people who are always ready to help.
