Building a Dashboard for Automated Test Results
I have been given a tough task for our new .NET project....We are trying to build an HTML portal which collects the XML based QuickTest Professional results from overnight test runs. Has anyone had experience in doing this that I could collaborate with?
- Is there a way to get an XML spec for the QTP Results Engine?
- Does BPT (Quality Center) enable reporting via XML from the Test Lab tab? (I can't seem to make this work... but the Detail results is an XML file I can use.)
- How should I aggregate the results?
I opened an SR with Mercury, but I wanted to see if anyone else had to do something similiar.

Re: Building a Dashboard for Automated Test Results
Defiantly, you will need a specification of XML file used to test reporting. After that you can simply utilize the MSXML classes to parse this file with ASP.NET and display collaborative results on your portal.
Other thing that you can do is implement customer reporting functions in your QTP scripts which will update your test management database and you can then show these on portal.
