WinRunner is TSL based script generator for programmers and developers.
QuickTestPro is much easier and useful for business analysts and other end users.
Other than that, look to the MercuryInteractive site for better documents.
I have attended a number of Mercury Interactive seminars and I always get the feeling that they are attempting to phase out WinRunner in favour of QTP, however they deny this is the case when I ask their representatives. WinRunner is still an integral part of many organisations' QA process and it would not be in their best interests to end-of-life Winrunner.
you are right. It looks like they have plans of sun setting of winrunner. But i dont think it wud be wise idea either. As u said many organizations have winrunner.
Another interesting thing is, I am not sure how well QTP can replace winrunner in places where people already have winrunner. Since the very basic idea of these two differ significantly.
More so, QTP is now thorougly a "Key-Word Driven" Testing tool. In that case how come the available scripts of winrunner be executed,if u dont have test director. I just wonder what wud happen in case people want to replace QTP with winrunner?
Dannie, I wud luv know what cud be their strategy to achieve this, if my perceptions are correct.
