my company does basic manual testing of applications. its inconvenient to test the same products over and over again manually - does anyone have any suggestions as to which testing tool is best?? in a nutshell our application basically logs an end-user onto the internet, of course the UI has options and other bells and whistles. again does anyone have suggestions?
Rich is right here, if you want it as a way of bringing in a tool through the backdoor look at the opensource tools as the only cost here is time and effort - to be honest though a simple perl script might do.
For something that simple, assuming you do not need to go into a full blown, expensive automated tool, I would suggest you have your developers write you a batch file, or exe to perform the input operation.
Try Visual Basic Script that comes with Windows if you are testing on Windows. It has limited capabilities to launch and application and play the key strokes, including combined keys. If the options are accessible through keyboard (without using mouse) you will be able to use it a little.
