I am new to this forum. briefly i am a consultant QA. I got a problem which is undefined earlier.
I am working in windows-xp (German Lauguage based) Operating System, also i installed Rational XDE Tester.
The problem is whenever i supposed to use record the script generated by itself is in German language which i could not understnad. and the default methods in the XDE is also in German language..
But i need all the methods names and provisions
which are given in XDE Editor should be in English.
what should be done to bring this out..
Pls help me.
Thanks in Advance
File a suggestion for appropriate changes. You may not expect that all occurences would be changed but to help recording/execution you may get some changes incorporated specially for you.
If a lot of time is available then learn German, they have a good literature which you would be able to scroll whenever testing work load is not high and it would help you to understand german strings too if your project is a long term project.
Im not sure about this but u can still check it out:
XDE tester might be using the default input locale of windows. If you go to Settings > Control Panel > Regional Options - you will be able to change it. I guess this *could* in turn cause a problem to your AUT. So what you could do is - enable "English" too and switch to it when u use robot (there should be a command line option for this too - which you could check out.)
Im not sure if this would work or not - but you could surely give it a try and see for urself - and yes do post a solution for this if you come across one
Are you in Germany ? Or you too are doing testing sitting at a remote location far away from Germany ? To the best of my knowledge if you are doing onsite testing at clients location then they must have provided you an internationalized keyboard supporting German.
One alternative is you sit at right location where all support, environment is nice for testing such interfaces. Other alternative you are already using - keep taking tips by posting queries here.

I had the same problem, as I was the only one in the team who used English locale on my machine.
So, the only task is to change the mind of your system administration, that you need English locale on your PC.
I would assume that all the menus, error messages and help files would be in German. I can see the point that there should be some mechanism of XDE Tester to override the language and force English even if the OS and Locale are set to German. I don't think any such solution has been found. For someone expected to test 7-8 languages, this could be a big issue.
