Re: Writing Test Cases
Have you ever tried your hands on exper systems ? Like ExPath ? Or LISP based intelligent systems ?
I suggest try downloading LISP compiler alongwith intelligent system "Doctor.lsp". Try to execute doctor.lsp and frame up questions, see the answers. Analyze the way Doctor.lsp has been written. You would be able to get as many rules as you want.
If this is too complex for you to handle then just follow the simplest rule that whatever item you see (or use) on screen (or command line) you will write a test case for that.
For GUI eg., if you see a GUI object (Button/List/Any Other) then write a test case to describe esistence, appearenve as well as methods associated with the object.
For Command line eg., if you are using parameters then try to cover range, permutations-combinations of parameters and if possible, also try to cover all possible outputs.
