I am looking for a tool which costs approximately 2000$.
After checking the 500$ and other free tools which were not satisfying and I am afraid that more expensive tools will be too expensive to my company this days.
Thanks in advance,
PS how friendly is the QARun compare to Silk test/Robot/Win-runner
Re: midrange tool
I think you are approaching the problem from the wrong aspect. What I would recommend is that you use the following process:
1) Develop the set of requirements that an automated test tool must have to work in your environment, weight each of the requirements including cost, coverage, ease of use, maintenance, etc.
2) With that matrix in hand, compare all tools that might be a good fit against the matrix. Attempt to compute the on-going script development and script maintenance as part of the data to begin to develop some sort of ROI that can be expected with each tool.
3) Present the data to management and let them make the decision as to which way to proceed.
If you have data on the true cost of all the scenarios, not just the cost per seat of the tool, then an informed decision can be made on how to proceed. The cost of script development and script maintenance will quickly exceed the cost of a tool seat price. The most cost effective solution is usually the one the covers your basic requirements and allows you to be quickly productive with minimal on-going maintenance, regardless of the tool seat cost.
