I'm new to Automation, and doing some reasearch about Automation Test frameworks. I'm automating a Java application that is database-driven in Quick Test Pro. I'm trying to find the best approach to create reusable scripts with automation and also to do some performance measuring with QTP. Has anyone out there done something similiar? Or have any links to Automation Frameworks/Plans? Thanks!
If your new to automation - it would be very difficult to create a framework as such. No im not discouraging you - only pointing that u might have to work hard / read a lot.
Try to learn the tool well first - or atleast try to find out its netigrities - before trying to implement something. This would enable u to see the limitations + advantages of the tool before u try to implement something.
Try and get to read some stuff - not specific to tools / platforms / etc
Make sure ur management knows u wont be wasting time in the above - but would be constructively involved in something that will pay u back sooner or later
Heres some stuff which I found cool enuf to go thru:
While thinking of framework, you should be ready to spend some more time(2-3 months).
You can read some materials related to automation.
You have to come up with goood design. Then you can do the implementation work. For this, you should be a good expertise on the tool or you should have some good programming exp.
Framework is not only having data driven script, you can develope for reports(automation results), maintenance of the reports....
