I know that some vendors claims ttat their products can be used with Apllets, but ..

Tomorrow (friday 9.30 GMT) someone from Mercury will give us some info.

    Thanks

Re: record and playback JAVA applets

Suggest that you tell them you would like a demo against your app/applets.

We had someone from Merc and Rational come by and we got a great demo run against their own test site (which of course they have designed their talking script to go with) but trying to run against some of our custom classes - they wouldn't work without a lot of dev work by both them and us.

Re: record and playback JAVA applets

We are developing scripts using Mercury's Quick Test Pro, as we speak, against our application that runs as a Java Applet. So far, I have mixed results to report.

First of all, dragging and dropping is next to impossible to implement and get to work consistently. Actually, consistency is the problem we are having. We have developed several scripts that run successfully AT TIMES; however, every test run at least SOMETHING doesn't work ( a right-click here or a double-click there ) and it throws the rest of the test off.

So, in short, this is a work in progress, but I was pretty suprised at what QTP could do out-of-the-box against our app....I don't know if the tool was that good or our developers did a good job : )

I will try to report more later.

Rationals RobotJ can be worth a look...

It gives you lot of control over java applets.
As said earlier, you might have to do "some" coding to make it work.
