Mccabe Test for Testing Java Application
would like to know if anyone has used Mccabe Test for testing Java application. If yes, how far its useful for the Tester in terms of analysing code coverage for writing testcase
Re: Mccabe Test for Testing Java Application
McCabe as you mentions is a code coverage code complexity analyzer. I guess the main point is to see how well your cases cover the functionality of an application. You can also analyze how complex your code.
Based on that you can determine if you need to add more test cases or even take some other test approach to gain a better coverage.
I think it's very useful, but you have to be realistic on what kind of coverage you can get.
Management tends to set unrealistic goals which are almost impossible to achieve.
It also useful to understand which class/package does what and if some code is not been exercised talk to a developer to make sure why not.
This tool commonly used in Xprogramming environment, where test approach test first and code later; Developers actually write tests before code and every test case.
