Iím finishing up my masters and thought I would write about the use of 3rd generation automation testing tools for a research paper. I was wondering if anyone could point me to some good online resources or books. I have done a search and I am finding a lot of advertisements.
Life should NOT be a trip to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an cool and well preserved body, but rather to skid in, chocolate in one hand, beer in the other, body wrecked, totally worn out and screaming WOO HOO what a ride!
Charles Reace (charlesDOTreaceATverizonDOTnet) "Forward!" he cried from the rear, and the front ranks died.
The generals sat, and the lines on the map moved from side to side.

When I was doing automation testing a few years back I was working on a Keyword/Action/Event driven process. The company closed its doors and then I went to manual testing. I was refering to keyword/action word automation as 3rd generation but maybe I need to do a little more research. From what I read from the responses you now have 4th generation tools... I guess I have some catch up to do in the way of test automation. Any information is welcome.
