    Command line tesing tool

    Hi,
I am looking for a robust command line tesing tool. I am to find and evaluate such a tool capable of working at the command line in Solaris/Linux.
Something which can capture the screen output and compare it with a expected screen which has been captured earlier. It should be able to mask things like date/time stamps etc.
    thanks,
    Bipin.

TestQuest would work for you. www.testquest.com. It is way overkill for what you describe, but easily handles what you describe in either language. I would be happy to provide details.

    Bipin,

    In response to your questions:

The specifications I am looking for is:
    1. ability to mask spefiic strings
Can mask multiple different screen areas.
    2. ability to run from any environment
The host system executes on a Windows 2000 PC, the capture is performed with hardware, thus can test Solaris, Linux, Windows, Cell Phones, etc.
    3. provide smart diff and allow easy analysis
Not sure I understand this, difference is easy to detect, you can overlay reference and capture images and see each pixel of difference.
    4. an ability to run tests using different users
    I don't understand this one.
    5. can run on Solaris and Linux
Host PC is Windows, targets can be Solaris and Linux.
    6.(nice-to-have) graphical interface
    Has this.
7.(nice-to-have) can also be used for window-based tools (i am aware about winrunner which is used for window-based tools)
    Has this.

If you want more information (and in a quicker fashion), reply to me at mitch.krause@testquest.com, and we don't have to use the bandwidth of this forum.
