I'd like to know if all testing tools need to create scripts.
I use QARun but I'd like to know if other tools need also long scripts.
I beleive all the test tools have to have test Scripts to automate the process.
May be the langugae of the script varies from Tool to Tool.
And the Length of the Script need not be so lengthy as u say.It is again depend on the Scripting Language.Avoid Recording and write ur own Crisp Codes
Every script should be as short as possible. In this way it will stay maintainable, it will only test a small piece of application and you will keep the overview.
And YES: all respected testtool use some kind of scripting language. And that's also the power! You record something (saves you a lot of time, because you don't have to program it yourself), edit the script and run it. When something changes in your application, you can modify your script with a simple replace and it runs again.
In the old days, there were tools which recorded a 'tape'. A tape was the same as a recorded script. It recorded all you actions, but you couldn't modify it anymore. That's not really handy (software changes all the time) and you had to re-record your 'tape'. Very time consuming.
Hope this helps.
