Hello, i have hands on experience with tools like Winrunner.
Currently i am involved for the testing of a .net project. Can someone please guide me that is there any special testing tools for .NET projects ?
We have some .NET applications. That's one challenge, because not many testtool are supporting .NET for the full 100%. Second thing is that we also using custom objects (and therefore not .NET standard objects). So if a testtool is able to work with .NET standard applications, it is not able to work with our application.
What we have done is created a proxy (interface) in between Rational Robot and our .NET application. In this way you can tell the testtool how to handle objects and what attributes can be checked. Working pretty good, but it is a lot of work for Development (the proxy becomes a part of your application and is therefore work for development).
Let me add something: we also have a Java client that couldn't be handled by WinRunner. Just like what we did with Robot and .NET we did with Java and WinRunner. Creating some kind of interface telling the tool how to handle the objects. So WinRunner has the same open interface as Robot. And therefore .NET applications shouldn't be a problem. It's is some work, but no problem :-)
I believe that .NET will not be supported by WinRunner. After the release of WinRunner 8, the tool, Quick Test Professional, will be MI's 'flagship' product. It will have all the capabilities of WinRunner, and it will incorporated support for new technologies.
