Network testing: I am looking for automated testing tools that will run on linux that can be used to manage a suite of existing scripts used to exercise the newtork. Any ideas? Also is there a product out there that already contains tests for excerising the network?
Try Chariot from NetIQ software. Console runs on Windows, network test agents run on
Windows (all variants)
LINUX (Many releases)
I am sure I am leaving some target OS's out, as they seem to add new ones all the time. One particularly nice feature is that Chariot supports the use of an out of band administrative network interface for the setup, management and collection of test data - something that application test tools handle poorly. Chariot can be used to test any business process which can be modeled with a set of sends and receives and can also be used to test for streaming protocols and voice over IP.
Full Disclosure: I do not sell Chariot, but I do deliver services to clients who use Chariot. I also deliver services to clients who use products from Mercury Interactive for application performance testing. I have been an employee of both NetIQ and Mercury Interactive in the past, but I do not represent either of them in this forum. Blame me, all my opinions are my own .
I hope you find this to be helpful. I am including a sample Chariot Script attached to this message.
