Has anyone used PREVUE-X or PREVUE-ASCII from Rational software?I'm evaluating whether to use the tool for testing of graphical user
interface software.I would appreciate it if you could share any information regarding the advantages or disadvantages of using either
of the above tools for testing GUI software.
Also, I would like to know which of the above tools is better for testing GUI software written using Java.I want a tool covering at least all Unix platforms(Solaris,HP,IBM,Linux). It would be good if the tool is independent of JDK version as our JDK version keeps changing. Also, I want a non-intrusive tool for black-box testing.
Please comment on PREVUE ASCII/PREVUE-X from RATIONAL with respect to the above points or let me know of any other tool meeting above criteria(if any).
I have used PreVue ASCII in the past. This is a load/performance test tool and is not for GUI testing.
I used this installed on Solaris box quite effectively to load test a client server Progress 4GL app.
I found however that the reporting functions werent the best, so we ended up extracting the raw sata and using Excel to draw some pretty graphs and charts...
We ran 400 or 500 user load if i remember correctly and found that is was quite resource hungry on both RAM and disk space, so make sure you have some pretty powerful hardware to support your test up front.
