A number of Software Testers in my test team attended the Test Director course earlier in the year and are now using Test Director as part of their every day work.
However, one of my team has a query which I hope someone can provide me with an answer, or point me in the right direction.
The tester in question has written a test case which consists of 10 steps. One of
the steps fails, but this means the whole Test Case fails.
During the TD course, my staff were told that if one set in the case fails, the entire case will fail. Is there a way to configure Test Director so that say if 85%
-90% of the case is correct, the case can have a status of pass instead of fail?
I don't know how to achieve this in an automated fashion (ie by making a config change to TD), but it is possible for testers to manually change the 'Status' of a test run.
Therefore, at the end of a test which has 'Failed' (due to an individual test failing), the tester could make a judgement based on percentages of steps passed etc and set the 'Status' to 'Passed'. Any failed steps would still be indicated as such, but the overall test would have appear to have passed.
Don't know if that's of any use, but there y'go...
