Testing Web Applications
i´m a brazilian guy and i´m 21 years old. This is the first message i send
to the list and i have a very important question to do.
In my work i have to do a report comparing some testing tools to web
applications. I´d like to have ome suggestion of good tools. The application
is written in ASP and access a SQL SERVER Database.I have to prepare a plan
of tests to , what suggestions you can give.
I downloaded threee tools that i´m evaluating now.
-e-test from RSW Software.
-wast from Micrrosoft
-webload from radview
do you any of then? Could you tell me something about then? Why they are
good? Why they are bad? What are the strengths of then?
People told me about tools of Rational and from Segue. Do you know then?

Re: Testing Web Applications
What type of testing are you looking to do? For Functional Testing, Segue SilkTest and Mercury WinRunner are probably the best. For load testing, Segue Performer is really nice. For lower cost, RadView WebLoad is fair.
If you look in the forums (or do a search), this question has been asked many times. I belive a few people even attached the document they wrote on the various tools.
However, everything will depend on what your needs are. Will you just be testing the ASP page? Whill you be doing any load testing on the database directly? Will you be testing Java Applets? ActiveX controls?
Having a clear idea on what you want to do will help you decide what you need to do it.
A good book to get is Automated Software Testing by: E. Dustin, J. Rashka, and J. Paul. Publised by Addison-Wesley, ISBN 0-201-43287-0.
