Automation tool for SimCorp Dimensions application developed in Dyalog APL and .Net C
Is there any automation tool to test automation testing of SimCorp Dimensions application developed in Dyalog APL and .Net C# technology.
The application UI seems to be developed in some propriety language Dyalog APL.
It seems like no tool have support for Ayalog APL. It would be great if some one can share some pointers or tool that can help me in automating this.
One more thing want to share, One organisation has released a test automation tool to automate the SimCorp Dimensions testing and they claim that this is the only tool that can automate SimCorp Dimensions.
Waiting to hear for your reply asap.
It is possible that some applications or development solutions have the object information and object properties hidden to the outside world (e.g. the testautomation tools) and therefor very hard to automate the tests.
Examples of this are Powerbuilder applications or some specialist banking applications. This is done on purpose to protect their materials.
For some (again like Powerbuilder) there are some solutions that involves compiling a dll with the application or switching on some settings to make these object properties visible. Only problem is that it needs the cooperation of the developing companies and most of them do not want to. They had hidden these for a reason.
For testautomation these kind of applications are a nightmare and sometimes you have to be honest with your customer and tell him there's no way or no reliable way to automate the tests or that the cost, the time and the effort to automate a test is more than what it would cost to test it manually.
Your customer would appriciate your honnesty more than if you would keep trying to automate the test and finally come up with a very instable and unreliable automated test.
Try if your controls are recognized with AutoIT (Freeware): support for IUIautomation, MSAA, IAccessible, ISimple dom interfaces
