We have a small-scale development effort underway using WinForms. Our current tools do not support WinForms testing. We are looking for a tool that can be used by a junior to mid-level automation engineer without requiring much set up work (like most open-source tools require). Is there something that works out-of-the-box to create simple tests without having to spend loads of time setting up a framework?
We are using Telerik's Test Studio for our web apps. But it doesn't support WinForms.
I've heard some good things about TestComplete so we will do an evaluation.
I'm pretty much done with QTP, not interested in using that tool anymore if I don't have to. Any tool that requires you to use it in a non-standard way in order to make it work properly while keeping maintenance costs down has major design flaws, IMO. We don't have the time or resources to build a keyword/data-driven framework; and that's what we'd need to do with QTP. Not to mention that the tech support is severely lacking (at least since HP bought Mercury). And the cost? Outrageous.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Will let you know how things work out.
