New to automated Testing...need some help
I have been asked to determine a sort of test strategy for taking on the testing of a business system that we are currently not testing. I want to preface this by saying that I am not technical. My background is UI testing & manual regression. My lead wants me to come with something for another business system. Where do I even start? I have come up with a list of possible tools that are available for automated testing. Currently we use QC for our requirements & documentation of manual test cases. We also have a regression suite in QTP for another application (I did not code the tests). The application is Oracle BPM Workspace. I have been give a process to start with. I have also documented Critical Tests, started high levels, picked one "Happy Path" at a low level to start trying to automate. Now what? Do I just start with QTP since that is what our off shore team is already using?

Seems like a reasonable way to start.
That way, you'll learn more about the tool and more about test automation in general.
When you are done, you will hopefully be in a better position to address the higher-level "test strategy" questions.
