I am evaluating various testing tools for our web based application working on different browsers, using PHP and Java scripts. I am unable decided which tool would be good. I have so far evaluated TestComplete, QA wizard, IBM Rational. Would like to know that whether Rational would be good option to consider?
I have done few comparisons recently based on different sets of features. You can have a look at them and list out your requirements. You can put into an Excel workbook and compare against each tool. Also if cost is imp constraint, then get the cost from tool vendor and then decide the evaluation.
I have been watching your postings and evaluating your tool comparisons with some interest over the past several weeks. Unfortunately I feel they are often superficial and at times simply inaccurate. For example you base one your comparisons--Silk versus WinRunner--on a detailed but dated evaluation I wrote at least 8 years ago. Please take the time to actually conduct hands on evaluation of these various tools yourself, and then provide more than just bullet point comparisons--if you want your evalutions to be truly useful.
I make this criticism reluctantly because your heart seems to be in the right place, but you are presenting information--some of which is inaccurate--quite forcefully as an expert on your website.
